UCF CEL has two offices: the LaunchPad for coaching and mentoring those with business ideas and Upstarts: Venture Incubation Program where exclusively selected entrepreneurs can get additional refined help for their thriving businesses.
I went for a "space/NASA" look for the Upstarts design to stay true to the theme of CEL being about launching your ideas into space and reaching for the stars. The "A" in logo has been turned into an abstract rocket to further signify that theme. I find it symbolic how Upstarts also represents an idea becoming a business venture like a rocketship launching "UP"wards where as at the LaunchPad is about developing that idea by starting at the ground and working from there.

Here is the old version of the logo that I was tasked to update along with sketches showing how I try to redesign it.
I showed my supervisor two ideas for the logo: replacing the "A" in Upstarts with either arrows or rockets to signify the "Up" in Upstarts.

Of the two, the Rocket version of the logo was chosen because it signifies the term upstarts better and because it is associated with the CEL LaunchPad, rockets make more sense. I also redesigned the rocket icons so that they're more angular and fit better with the font.

This is the finalized version of the logo/door signage. The "Venture Incubation Program" was now placed under the logo itself than rather be an acronym. "VIP Room" was added to make the office feel more exclusive.

Here are the digital renderings of the Upstarts logo signage as it progresses to the completed version. I focused first on how it would look on the door and once that was finished, I made it into specifications needed for the outdoor signage.
